8 Easy Ren Faire Haire Ideas

Easy Elf Hair & Makeup Tutorial by Taryn Tragedy

I really love how incredibly easy this one is - literally anyone could pull this off with enough hair. Plus it starts off with an easy makeup tutorial - one and done!

4 Hairstyles in Under 4 Steps from Designlovefest

The crown braid would be an absolutely perfect hairstyle for that romantic renaissance vibe. Hell, any of the tutorials on this page would fit in just fine.

A mohawk braid would look really badass if you plan on going as a warrior, barbarian, or Viking-inspired character.

This elven warrior braid from S'il Vous Plaits Hairstyling is totally killer and an absolute stunner. I love the circlet and how incredibly different this one is from many others I've seen. She always has such lovely fantasy-inspired hair tutorials, so be sure to check out her blog while you're there!

These Hippie Braids by Barefoot Blonde would make an easy but awesome option for a more laid back braided hairstyle. I hope one of these has inspired you to try some beautiful medieval/fantasy-inspired creations! Thanks for reading!

Tuesday Treasures 61

Hey, folks! Thanks for stopping by for this week's issue of Tuesday Treasures, my weekly collection of favorite finds from around the web! Today I'll be letting you in on some changes to my blog and to Tuesday Treasures in general, so be sure to stick around to find out more! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my newest handmade picks and creative inspiration!

The artistry of Jen Collins touches my heart like that of no other! With a series longingly entitled Animals That I Did Not Meet and quirky subject matter that ever-so-often touches on the endless wonders and complications of body hair, this unique ceramic artist and illustrator is definitely one that I will be keeping my eye on!

These pretty potted seedling cookies by cookie & frosting expert Sweet Ambs are incredibly adorable and just perfect for Spring! If you'd like to make some of these cute little leaf toppers yourself, be sure to check out this video tutorial from Sachiko of Mimicafe Union!

If I've ever seen a logo that I'd define as simply majestic, this would be the one! This work of art by Sam Larson of Steel Bison is really brought to life in beautiful texture and detail in this gorgeous print from Clove St. Press.

With the crazy sore throat and sinus infection I've had all weekend, this recipe for a super sinus-clearing bath soak from the Love & Marriage blog sounds incredible. If you're experiencing Springtime allergies, you should probably try this out with me and let me know how it goes...

I am in Love with this appropriately-named work of art by Paula Belle Flores! The beautiful flowers placed inside a delicate floral-print anatomical heart vase and surrounded by butterflies makes a truly sublime tapestry for any room!

Thanks again for reading Tuesday Treasures! From now on, I'd like to try to approach this series a little differently - by posting biweekly instead of each week! Hopefully, this will leave me with more time for projects, planning, and really refocusing my blog and attempting to better achieve my goals as well as providing a more focused range of content. Ultimately, I'd love to hear what you all have to say about the matter, so feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions, comments or opinions - I'd love to hear from you! As always, thanks for reading, and remember that you can always check out previous issues of Tuesday Treasures in the archives! See you soon!

Tuesday Treasures 60

I can't get over just how amazingly bold and unique these bowls are! You'd be surprised to find that this project can be accomplished in 20 short minutes using three inexpensive items. Check out this awesome tutorial by Fariha over on Pennies for a Fortune - the design possibilities are truly endless!

These may very well be some of the most gorgeous wedding cakes I've ever seen! The draped fondant fabrics paired with layers upon layers of lace and one-of-a-kind details make the beautiful creations of Sweetlake Cakes especially luxurious!

I just can't get enough of the beautiful floral Katelyn wedding dress by Wendy Makin! I was actually surprised to see this photo of it on a hanger. If it were mine, I don't think anyone could ever convince me to take this dress off. Ever.

The adorable one-of-a-kind woodland creature-inspired brooches of Tukoni Tribe are the cutest little hand-painted companions - I just want to pick up that tiny little raccoon and squeeze him! The fantasy creatures, however, are especially cool.

So I guess at this point it's pretty apparent how much more obsessed I'm becoming with wedding-related things as the big day draws nearer, but can you seriously look at the layers in this ring from Staghead Designs and not completely melt? Plus, I love knowing that if I was interested in this piece that it's made from an antler that was ethically sourced. Just gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping in for another issue of Tuesday Treasures! Be sure to drop by next week to get a glance at my awesome handmade wedding invitations (or check me out on Instagram to get a special sneak peek at them)! See you soon!

Tuesday Treasures 59

Hey, folks! Thanks for stopping by for my weekly collection of favorite discoveries! This week I'm exceptionally enthralled with all of the little details in this teensy-tiny hand-drawn donkey brooch from KRS Art!

These absolutely adorable hand-painted ceramics by Marinski Handmades are just so, so cute! Each piece has its own unique color & pattern combination and is incredibly charming and packed with personality!

I'm just crazy about the way Brynne of The Gathered Home spruced up these basic blackout curtains by adding a simple pop of gold leaf! Be sure to check out her DIY Embellished Curtains post for the full tutorial!

Isn't this pastel bunny pattern the cutest? It's part of a Pattern Project series by Anke Weckmann, and I'm basically in love with all those little pink carrots and buttons and bunny faces all over it! Forget about Easter, I would wear this pattern on everything, all year round!

When I discovered Maiden Voyage Clothing, I became immediately obsessed. If there's one thing I need more of in my life it is clothing that professes my love and devotion for the friendly pursuit of Sasquatch.

Here's another fun do-it-yourself project from Delineate Your Dwelling! If you're already excited to create this pretty tribal-patterned clutch, just wait until you see the inside!

Thanks for stopping by for this week's edition of Tuesday Treasures! If you've enjoyed today's post, be sure to check out previous issues of Tuesday Treasures, or follow me on Pinterest for even more DIY ideas and favorite finds! See you next week!

8 Tips to Make Hotel-Living Easy & Eco-Friendly

Since my current job has me working in a variety of stores from the East coast to West Virginia, I find myself staying in different hotels with my fiancee for whole weeks at a time, traveling back and forth each weekend sometimes without knowing an exact destination until we arrive. Most hotels have the basic microwave and refrigerator, however sometimes we get a room with the added cook-top, and sometimes still we have to make due without any of these amenities. Regardless, the constant back-and-forth of it all does seem to take quite a turn on the environment and our wallets over time, so I've put this list together of little tips and tricks we've learned along the way!

  1. Corral dry groceries that you'll be traveling with regularly in a large, reusable shopping bag. You can carry more and it will last longer than those plastic shopping bags you've been lugging back and forth.
  2. Create categorized lists to remember all those little items that you'll be taking with you on a regular basis! Be sure to make an individual list to keep with your (reusable) grocery bag, so that you can easily see what items will need to be replenished soon.
  3. Keep earrings and small jewelry safe & organized by storing them in medicine bottles! You can even find larger bottles for necklaces and other small trinkets!
  4. Pack minimally. Remember that you can re-wear many articles of clothing without rewashing, such as jeans and sweatshirts, so feel free to pack lighter than one pair of jeans per day, for example.
  5. Collect coupons! Many coupon deals, paired with additional store sales, can help you score some cheap (sometimes even free) travel-sized amenities, such as toothpaste, soaps, and the like.
  6. Keep everything. All of my hotel shampoos are stored in a huge Ziploc bag in my bathroom. I typically try to not hoard things, but this is one of my two special exceptions (the other one is buttons).
  7. DO NOT buy travel-sized items. Just get some empty soap and shampoo bottles and refill them before you head out of town. You don't even have to buy the bottles - just refill those ones you kept from your last hotel stay!
  8. Speaking of which, be sure to bring a small bottle filled with dish soap along, as well as plates, bowls, and utensils for everyone. This will cut down on the money you'd otherwise spend on disposables, all while saving the planet!

I hope you've found this list helpful - if you're looking for more ways to save money while traveling, be sure to check out Roadtripping: 10 Ways to Save on the Road. If you have any other tidbits to share on this topic, feel free to leave them in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!
